I am elated, overjoyed and honored to present the MoKnowsHair Curl Collection!
When I started this journey six years ago, I could not have imagined being afforded these opportunities and opened doors. God has truly blessed me to walk in purpose and through Him all things have been made possible. I started MoKnowsHair in September 2013 as a resource for styling tips, healthy hair care methods and product reviews to help curly girls everywhere. Today, I am a licensed cosmetologist, blogger, influencer and now, product innovator.
After a year and a half blogging in Kansas City, I knew if I wanted to grow, I would have to make a move. When I decided to take the leap and leave my very safe job in higher education marketing in 2015 and move to New York City, I didn’t know what would be available to me, but I knew that while I was waiting on God, He was waiting on me. After being in NYC for only two months, Aveda offered me the opportunity to attend Aveda Institute NYC on full scholarship and I completed my cosmetology certificate in May 2016. From there, I became a licensed cosmetologist and opened a salon in Manhattan. They say if you can make it there you can make it anywhere, and after the first month, I knew I was where I was supposed to be. Around that same time, I became Sally Beauty’s Textured Stylist traveling to events, styling for campaigns and creating content.
For three years I helped more than 800 women, men and children with hair care through coaching, restoration, cutting, coloring, styling and maintenance in my salon. I had the pleasure of learning more about what the community needed and where the industry needed to catch up. I found that the main struggle was too much conflicting, non-scientific information being spread as natural hair gospel and it was sending many into a spiral of unhealthy hair care practices. Not to mention a host of products that have not been formulated to serve the needs of textured hair based on environment, lifestyle and genetic dynamics. My salon experience led me to create the MoKnowsHair Curl Collection.
I formulated each product, from scratch, pin-pointing every ingredient to include. I created these products to nurture, care for and improve the health of hair. It was my goal that the line would be accessible (physically and financially), effective and easy to use. I also wanted to ensure the products were salon-quality and only had the best botanicals, essential oils, butters, preservatives, quaternary compounds and hydrolyzed proteins that would allow you to live your best curly life!
Creating this collection has been a labor of love – thousands of hours of research, formulating and testing with the lab, developing packaging from scratch, calls with the Sally Beauty team, trips to and from, and salon testing on REAL heads of hair, of every texture – to ensure the BEST version of your hair.

Beyond the monumental impact I hope this collection will have, I also hope you feel inspired and encouraged to live in your own purpose. I want you to feel that whatever is in your heart, you are to bring it forth and use it for good. We all have something to contribute to the world that is bigger than us. You do not have to know how or have all of the resources you think you need – God has already accounted for every mistake, shortcoming and obstacle. All it takes is one step toward it. This is not something I take credit for; this is a testimony of God’s grace, goodness and desire to use us all for divine purpose.
