Easy Styles for Straight Hair

Vintage Updo and Pin Curls

On July 25, 2015, I had the pleasure of presenting a style workshop at Team Natural’s Living No Lye Tour NYC and I wore my hair in a vintage, half-up, half-down style. I received lots of questions about it on my social media so I decided to recreate it in this tutorial!

A couple days later, I posted a picture of some voluminous curls that I set without any additional heat. Also in this tutorial, I show you how I achieved those with pin curls.

Prep:

The night before the event, I did a silk roller wrap and stopped after the plastic wrap. I did not flat iron this time. You can see the steps and products used in my Silk Roller Wrap Update tutorial.

Three-strand twist-out using all TGIN products.

About my style demo:

Angela’s hair was set and styled with all TGIN products! Here are the steps I took to achieve this look:

1. Cleansed with Moisture Rich Sulfate-Free Shampoo twice in luke warm water
2. Applied Honey Miracle Hair Mask and sat under Hair Steamer for 20 minutes
3. Added Green Tea Super Moist Leave-In Conditioner + Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum + Twist & Define Cream to small section of wet hair, used Denman 7-row brush to smooth in and then three-strand twisted
4. Sat under hooded dryer for 45 minutes to set, covered with satin scarf for bed
5. Coated my fingers in Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum, untwisted, then fluffed with fingers and pick
You can see a review of all TGIN products here, and you can see them in action on Angela here
