In this tutorial, I walk you through the process I use to straighten my friend Cherie’s transitioning hair. I also discuss products used and flat iron choices.

Transitioning takes patience. You can help yourself along the journey with helpful tips and product information found here on my blog, and by researching terminology and reading product reviews.

Total style time for deep conditioning, straightening and trimming was about three hours.

Keep and Care:

You can preserve your style by sleeping with your hair in a traditional wrap and securing with a silk or satin scarf, or you can wrap sections on flexi-rods or rollers for more curls and volume.

  1. I am curious as to what her hair type/pattern is? My pattern is similar and I can never really determine what type I have or what products to use. Any advice would be appreciated!

  2. I just discovered your youtube videos and they are great!!! I have a question. I’ve been perm free for a little over two years. I have 4C hair and I’m scared to straighten it w/o a relaxer especially since I go to the gym a few times a week. Are there any products I can use to maintain that straightness w/o a relaxer?

  3. This is great. Your friend and I have similar hair. So this was a great tutorial. Where are you located?! Do you take appointments/ consultations?
