Conversations with Curl Friends at Curl Fest!

On June 22, 2014, in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY, more than 2,000 people gathered for fun, music, food, shopping and natural hair! Curl Fest, presented by Curly Girl Collective, became the official kick-off to summer. In this recap, Jessica of HeyGorJess and I talk with several naturalistas about personal thoughts and experiences with their hair.

Featured:

Jessica (@heygorjess) is a New Jersey-based blogger focused on helping women see their beauty inside and out through stories, experiences, natural hair, health and beauty tips.

Alexandra Elle (@alex_ellehas made an immense impact on women, both of her generation and beyond. She has quickly gained recognition for her candid, honest words, most notably in her acclaimed debut book, “Words from a Wanderer.” Alex is also a natural hair blogger, jewelry designer and poet.

Mel Burgos (@rock_yo_rizos) is a D.C.-based blogger featuring tips for women, men and kids as well as healthy recipes for balanced living. She is most recognized for her abundance of perfectly-coiled, golden “rizos.”

Carmen Lilly (@stylecarmenis a New York-based wardrobe stylist and personal shopping consultant. Her portfolio ranges from red carpet looks to on-air talent for prominent networks and events such as BET, CBS, Entertainment Tonight and the Academy Awards.

Tessa John Conner (@afroista), known as “the people muse” is a blogger focused on health, hair, home and beauty. For her, having natural hair has become more than just rocking a fro, but an understanding of what it means to have a natural existence.
